...I am a needle junkie.
Last night, I mentioned to the other admin at work that Wednesday night was the only weeknight night I could buy yarn, because that's the night Windsor Button is open late. I said, "I have to get some yarn, but I don't know what I want to make yet." That was when she told me I was an addict. Ok, maybe so. I did at least know that I needed to make something for J&J's baby-to-be, and that while a receiving blanket sounded nice, it would probably take me a LOOONNNNG time to do. So I decided on a hat. I spent a while online at work last night looking up patterns, since the one in my book sounded a little harder than I'm ready for. I ended up finding a *really* cute one that will make him look like a little pixie or an elf. It's a simple soft cone-shaped hat that's actually knit on single-point needles, in a ribbed pattern. Easy. It will take a while though--the needles are itty-bitty and the yarn is about the thickness of embroidery floss. I haven't even started yet...I'm working on gauge. I have apparently been knitting too loose. The pattern said that 28 stitches in stockinette should be about 4" wide. Mine was 5". Grr. If someone took me and

leenah and smooshed us together, they'd get a knitter who's always dead on gauge. :)
I was just looking at
http://www.knitty.com/, and they have so much cool stuff in there. I think I will try my hand at some "feline dim sum". Don't ask. :) There's also a "grass skirt" that I want to make eventually. I need some short skirts, and this one is sooo cute.
*Sigh* Ok, I'll admit it. I really
am addicted. I am looking forward to knitting on the T home tonight. I can't wait until I hear the click-click of the needles and see the pretty bright fabric appearing on them. It's a deeply satisfying addiction, I have to say.
