Here is a picture gallery from Saturday's recital! All the pictures here were taken by the talented [livejournal.com profile] canongrrl, so if you like her work, give her business! :)

And for my own future reference:

Pics from my solo: 27-28
Pics from Soleil d'Egypte w/ me in them: 39-41

[livejournal.com profile] cloakedrose also took a bunch of pictures, and if he posts them somewhere, I'll post a link. :)

For anyone who's interested (I know you were, [livejournal.com profile] brontosproximo), here's the info on my first live-music performance:

What: Cabaret-style belly dance with a live band performing the music
Where: http://www.atheniancorner.com/ --the Athenian Corner restaurant in Lowell, MA
When: Thursday, May 11th. The first of three routines starts at 8:00pm, but you can get there earlier if you want to eat earlier. They have rather good Greek food. I'll be in the first routine only, so if you want to see me and you get there late, you might miss me.
Who: The Jewels of Jamal, Amira Jamal's dance troupe.
Why: Because you know you want to see those girls shimmy!

I know it's a hike for most of you, so I'm not actually asking anyone to come. I'm just putting up the info for anyone who might be interested, and so I have it all in one place to remember.

Also, the dancers Lilya and Zemirah will be performing in the same location on THIS Thursday night, May 4th, I believe at 8pm. Both of them are very accomplished dancers and a joy to watch. I'll be going to watch them, both to offer support and to get more familiar with the place and the band.

Has anyone here seen MIT's HawkCam?

Basically, on a ledge outside the building that's sort of kitty-corner to where I am now, there's a nest with a pair of adult red-tailed hawks and their babies. MIT has set up a webcam so you can watch them in realtime, at the link above. The parents take turns flying off to get little animals, then bring them back and tear off bits to feed to the babies, which are cute and fluffy-looking. It's SO COOL. You have to see it.
