Last night, I got my hair cut for the first time in 15 months. I had about 1.5-2" taken off, and some more distinct layers put in. I am quite pleased thus far with the result. Ben at FrancesRayJules salon is awesome. Nice guy, knows his stuff. The cut ended up costing quite a bit more than I'd been expecting (seems
pierceheart may have misinterpreted what he heard, or simply misheard the price info when he was last there), but it's no more than you'd pay at any GOOD salon in the area. Less than you'd pay at some on Newbury Street, more than likely. Anyway, in spite of having paid more than I was expecting, I don't feel like I got ripped off. This haircut is worth what I paid for it. I am fabu again, which will be nice for my performance next week.
Speaking of performing, Ben told me that his makeup artist and artistic director will do classes on makeup application and selection for groups of people. Basically, you get a bunch of people together and tell them what you want to learn about. They teach tricks and techniques, and help you get some hands-on experience doing it on yourself (they do the thing on one side of your face, you do the other side). I thought that might be kinda cool if people in my dance class wanted to get together for a class on makeup for the stage, with, say, dramatic eyes, false lashes, etc. Something to think about.
I'm not going to go watch my two classmates perform tonight at the Athenian Corner. I WANT to, but there's absolutely no way I'll have time to clean up my apartment and go to NERAX if I do. And the apartment NEEDS cleaning. I will probably have to enlist my boy's help, and my roommate's. <lj-cut text="stuff I need to do, so I remember:</I>
1. Clean bathroom. At least toilet and sink, and shake out rug
2. Clean up my desk and my floor in my bedroom
3. Clear kitchen table and make sure counters are clean
4. Clear coffee table and wipe it down
5. Get rid of at least SOME of the cat hair, fer pete's sake
6. Find a place to stash roommate's Goodwill-destined stuff temporarily
</lj-cut>
There's more I need to do, but that's good to have listed.
And tonight...REAL ALE! W00t! :D
