In which I let my inner fangirl out.
Sep. 12th, 2007 08:20 pmOk, so there are way too many good movies out now!
I wanted to see the new Harry Potter flick. I was looking forward to it. Looks like it's only out as a matinee now, except at a few far-flung theaters. Fuck.
But there's still Stardust, by the inimitable, fabulous, on-my-list-of-TOP-writers Neil Gaiman. I love the book. I've read it five or six times. It's one of those books that has a...smell to it. Best I can describe it. It's like a particular atmosphere that I absorb and delight in while reading the book. I hope the movie gets that. Fortunately, it's still showing at normal times in metro area theaters.
Then, there's the gorgeous and talented Russell Crowe in 3:10 to Yuma. Now, I'm not a huge fan of westerns in general, but I love Crowe and Christian Bale, and I hear this one is a really, really good bit of filmmaking. Supposed to be a winner. And I always love to drool over Russell.
And then...then, there's #1 on the celebrity drool-list, Viggo Mortensen, working with the brilliant David Cronenburg once again (he'd done so in the stunningly good A History of Violence), this time in Eastern Promises. Apparently a really, really good gritty mob thriller. Oooh. Very much oooh. CAN. NOT. WAIT.
Right now, I'm wishing I had Secretary to watch, for some reason. I just loved that flick. So funny, such great acting, and quite hot. Ah well, it's at the boy's. Better go shower and pop something else in the DVD player instead.
