If I buy Christmas tree lights in two different brands, but they are both the "we have microchips so we stay lit even if one bulb goes out" kind, can I put them together and 1) have them work, and 2) have them still do the "we stay lit" thing if a bulb goes out?

I'm such a dork. I just want to be able to get the tree decorated sooooon! I want the shiny pretty thing in my dining room to be ready for its close-up so I can show it off!
