Things that rocked about last night
Jun. 25th, 2009 08:44 am1. The ostrich burgers were fantastic, but the real KILLER of the meal was the oven-fries with truffle oil, garlic salt, and parmesan. OMG. HEAVEN. They were perfectly done. I soaked the cut potatoes in water with sugar and salt, dried them, and put them on a cooking sprayed cookie sheet. I sprayed them with more cooking spray and cooked them at 450F until they were brown. Then I took them out, dotted them with black truffle oil, sprinkled them with freshly grated parmesan and garlic salt, and popped them back in the oven to melt the cheese. These must happen again. They were insane.
2. You MUST see The Amazing Screw-On Head. DO IT NOW!!! It's an animated pilot for a series based on a one-off comic book drawn by Mike Mignola (of Hellboy fame). OK, yes, it's just that one episode and no more were made. OK, so it's only 22 minutes long. But it is 22 minutes OF PURE FUCKING WIN. It was hysterical! It's basically the answer to the question, "What do you get when you combine zombies, steampunk, the occult, and a twisted sense of humor?" Oooh, and although it's not the greatest quality, you can apparently watch the entire thing on Google Video. You will thank me, if you have not yet heard of this.
