Oy vey. Some weekend. Well, okay, Friday night was lots of fun, and Saturday morning as well. But it did go downhill from there. My dad was impressed with the selection of brews I picked out for his birthday (didn't get to try any, though). We went to the Sunset Grill and Tap, and I had a really good beer I've never had before, a Belgian farmhouse ale whose name I can no longer remember...Vieux Saison or something like that. It came in a 750 mL bottle, and my dad and I split it. Tart, crisp, tasty.
Then we headed back to my parents' house, where we rented two movies, one of which the VCR ate. Gangs of New York didn't get eaten, though. It was pretty good. Daniel Day Lewis's American accent put DiCaprio's Irish one to shame. I hate that boy.
I spent most of my time at my parents' place listening to my sister bitch about how much her life sucks. She's now on antidepressants and they just tripled her dose. I've known people much more depressed than her who got better with less medication. I think she's just overdramatic. Well, I always knew that, really. I once spent a year in a suicidal depression and didn't ever tell my family how bad it got. In fact, I don't know if I told *anyone* until it was over. Why worry them? I've never really believed that misery loves company. Lisa, on the other hand, can't go more than an hour without any woe-is-me. It just irritates people, which makes her more upset.
Anyway, I managed to raise my mother's eyebrows for the first time ever this weekend. The fact that I'm going to a festival with a clothing-optional area shocked her. She can't believe I go out to Man Ray wearing pasties. See, I'm the good daughter. I'm not the one who's supposed to like these things! Not that it bothers her, but she is quite surprised. I guess I just have a few bad influences around me. Well, maybe more like naughty influences. :)
Speaking of that festival...my boss just approved my vacation!!! I'M GOING TO STONES RISING!!!!!!!!! Woo-hoo! One of the chicks in charge of the camp e-mailed me over the weekend to welcome me and give me a little info on the campsite I'll be staying in. That was really sweet. She seems nice. I think I'm going to be assisting in the veterans' vigil, for Morgan (who's taking part) and for my friend Dan who is over in Kuwait as far as I know, with Army MI. I'll probably also help out in cooking at the big feasts, if only to assure myself of a decent meal! Now I have to think of what to bring for the giveaways. I'm thinking homemade incense and maybe some crystals and homemade candles for the "tribe" one, anyway.
So psyched now. I can't wait. How much fun is this going to be?!?!
