I am pro-choice. I believe that if you don't want an abortion, by all means, choose one of the other options available. If you do, though, you should be able to have one safely and without fear.
Would the United States fall with a woman president?
Not if she were a GOOD woman president.
Do you believe in the death penalty?
No. I don't think it serves society in any way. I believe in forced labor for convicts, for the benefit of society.
I never said I didn't believe in it because I was nice.
Do you wish marijuana would be legalized already?
Do I personally wish it? Not really. But I think it's a good idea to do it. I hate pot. I hate the smell of it. I don't like it when people use it to excess and act like twits, as they do when they use alcohol to excess. I don't think it should be legal to smoke it anywhere you can't smoke cigarettes. But having it be illegal is stupid, if alcohol and cigarettes are legal.
Do you believe in God?
That would be like believing in the postman.
Do you think same sex marriage should be legalized?
It is here! (I love Massachusetts!) It should be legal everywhere.
Do you think it's wrong that so many Hispanics are moving to the USA?
No, but I wish their own countries were in better shape.
A twelve year old girl has a baby...should she keep it?
Should she? I personally don't think it would be a good idea. I think she'd do better to give it up for adoption, and that in most cases, the kid would be better off too. I think the law should only allow her to keep it if her legal guardian(s) are also judged to be acceptable legal guardians for the the baby. If not, well, they shouldn't be HER legal guardians either, and both should be placed in a better situation.
Should the alcohol age be lowered to 18?
Yes. I think that this country's prohibitive attitude towards alcohol is one reason why so many college kids drink themselves stupid so often. My parents allowed me alcohol even before the age of 18, and I learned moderation and an appreciation for good quality.
Assisted suicide is illegal...do you agree?
Well, yes, I agree it's illegal, but I don't think it should be. At least, not universally. I think that if someone is judged to be of sound mind, they should be allowed--and given a certain, painless means--to end their own life.
Do you believe in spanking your children?
I believe in spanking, not beating. I was spanked as a child, but not hard, and only when I'd done something that I was old enough and smart enough to KNOW was a dumb thing to do. It was more embarrassing than painful, and it basically said to me, "See how embarrassing this is? You SHOULD be embarrassed because of what you did. You should do better than that, if you know better than that." It worked: I was generally a very good kid, but was not afraid of my parents or resentful of them.
Would you burn an American flag for a million dollars?
I would never do it for money. Something like that, I would only support if it were done as a sincere protest against true injustice. I do not believe it should be illegal.
A mother is declared innocent after murdering her 5 children in a temporary insanity case, do you agree?
I wouldn't be able to say for certain without being able to see the details of the case. In general, I think that someone like that should be committed. If the insanity were temporary, she would probably need to be committed to avoid causing harm to herself. Also, it's possible that her ability to distinguish right from wrong may have been temporary, but it's likely that she has serious issues that are long-standing, which led her to that point.
Are you afraid others will judge you from reading some of your answers?
They will judge me. Judging isn't bad in and of itself. Judgments can be positive or negative. If it's positive, nice. If it's negative, well, everyone's different. I know that even
