Weekend and other stuff
Apr. 13th, 2009 10:59 am1. So, in case I didn't mention it before,
pierceheart and I have a working fridge and freezer again as of Thursday night. The ice maker and water filter system is broken, but we can keep stuff cold. Yay! We stocked up on groceries Friday night, and I got more since then, too. We're back to having a fairly normal kitchen.
2. Saturday was a pretty quiet day, in which we did some gardening. I repotted my rosemary plants, and the boy transplanted a few seedlings. He went out in the evening, and I chilled out and ate homemade nachos (lighter than restaurant style, but a big meal nonetheless).
3. Yesterday was a struggle to find stores that were open that had stuff I needed or wanted. The yarn stores were closed. The craft store was closed. There went my crafty plans for the day. The Chinese supermarket downtown was closed for renovations. I finally went to the Japanese market in Porter Square, and scored some dried shredded squid (really, it's tasty!), some nori, some tofu shirataki noodles, some fish cake (the stuff made of surimi), and a little onigiri mold. Yay! I was so pleased to have finally found some of the stuff that I wanted to buy, I forgot I also needed to go to CVS. Oops. I'll go on my lunch break. Oh, I also found a place that sells gorgeous lacquered bento boxes! I cooked a salmon steak with cucumber-yogurt-dill sauce, boiled new red potatoes, and sauteed fennel for dinner last night, and it was awesome. Nom.
4. I just had my annual review at work. Apparently, I am awesome. It is a pity the department only has a little money available for increases this year, and that they aren't promoting right now, because I was recommended for promotion. Oh well, I guess in this economy, it's not surprising, and I'm lucky to be getting an increase at all.
5. Seeing JB again on Wednesday. Wow. This is working out better than I expected in terms of getting to see one another. That's a relief.
6. Oh gods, oh gods, the shower is Sunday. Tomorrow night, I will get quiche supplies and start making quiches, hopefully. I can freeze them. Cupcakes will be done on Saturday. I may ask someone else to pick up bagels and cream cheese for which I will reimburse them.
