What's going on in the kitchen?
May. 7th, 2009 03:54 pmMonday night we had pasta with veggie-meat sauce, made from scratch. Yesterday, I made a chicken sausage, onion, red pepper, mushroom, and basil pizza. Today's bento partook of both meals. In my small tier, I had a layer of pasta (the white but high fiber kind) topped with the sauce, and about 1/3 of a chicken sausage, sliced. In the big tier, I had leftover sauteed mushrooms and onions with zucchini and grape tomatoes. Nom! Tonight, for a change of pace after this Italian stuff, I am going to make satay-seasoned chicken breasts, and use them to top Asian salads with a homemade peanut dressing. I'm very much looking forward to that! Then, on Friday night, I will be having a potluck dinner with a couple friends. I have no idea what I'm making for that yet, but it will probably be a main meat dish of some kind. Maybe I'll bring burrito fixin's. Saturday, I'm attending a housewarming, and I intend to make my famous guacamole for that. That is, if I can find decent ripe avocados. I refuse to make it if the avocados aren't ripe. I hope they are: I haven't made my "real" guac in ages, just my "lazy" guac (avocados mashed with a good-quality salsa).
Things I want to make soon:
Mujadarah with bulgur (I think the boy will like it even though it's leguminous.)
Something on the grill (when the weather starts cooperating)
Ceviche
Things I am craving to eat:
Tuna salad
Cheeseburger
More cheeseburger
