Reposting this entry because it wasn't showing up on my friends page before

FUCK!!!!!

My teacher e-mailed me a .wma file of the song I'm using for my solo, since it's hard to get. I can't burn it onto a CD, of which I actually will need two copies, because my CD player won't read .wma files. Just MP3s or WAVs. So: no song, can't choreograph a dance. Can't do that, can't do a solo. FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!!!!!!

Umm, I think that Windows Media Player will let you burn CDs, unless there's some sort of copy-protection going on. Here's how:

  1. First, get out of "skin" mode, and into "full" mode. Typing control-1 should do it; if not, right-click, and choose switch to "Full Mode".

  2. Second, click "copy to CD or device" from the buttons on the left (yes, these are actually buttons)

  3. Make sure that the tracks you care about are on the list on the left, and checked.

  4. Click "Copy" in the top-right when you're ready.

If that doesn't work, this (http://www.wma-mp3.com/) claims to do a wma-to-mp3 conversion.

Warning: I've never done either of these. YMMV.

Also, Winamp claims to do CD burning, and will play most any audio format I've ever seen.

How long do you have before your show to choreograph?

I've done said burning. It worked well for me, so it should do the same for you, Laura. (Hopefully. I have WMP 9, which is awesome.)

I've been in full mode and saw that option, but I thought it would only work if the burner could read WMA format. If I open the burner software and go through the CD copy process, it does a search for all music files on your computer, and doesn't find any WMA files.

Worked for you with WMA files to a machine that doesn't read those files? If so I'll try it. I am also going to ask our techie people at work today.
