Mmm...books!

Got me some new reading material today. I went to Borders and was standing in the checkout line with some purchases (one for me and three gifts), when yet another book caught my eye. It was called Thomas the Rhymer by Ellen Kushner. If anyone has heard the song/story, it's based on that. I'm really looking forward to reading it! Anyone else get there before me? Let me know what you thought of it.

I believe that Neil Gaiman wrote a treatment of that story (either that or The False Knight on the Road) for Charles Vess' comic.

I just looked it up off neilgaiman.com, and it looks like it was The False Knight on the Road, after all. But, I'm pretty sure that Thomas the Rhymer is in there as well.

Actually, Gaiman recommended it with a comment on the cover! That's what sealed my decision to buy it then rather than look up reviews first.

So he wrote a story based on The False Knight On The Road, huh? Kick ass! He's done so many littler things that I have yet to read. I must get some of his other stuff like Wolves in the Walls. Oh, and more Sandman. I only have 1-4.

That's on my list of stuff to borrow from the library if I can find it. I've always liked listening to Ellen Kushner do "Sound and Spirit" on NPR.

Everyone I know who's read it has recommended it to me highly. I just haven't gotten around to it.
