I lost two and a half pounds since the last time I got on a scale. Not much, true, but it's a start. I think some of it was just because of the time of month it was when I last weighed myself, but still...good to see it go. I scared myself last night. I made popcorn right before bed and ate it in bed while reading. Not a scary thing in and of itself, but it reminded me of my mom's eating habits, and I don't want to get as heavy as she is, because I want to stay in better health than she's in. I'm young(ish), and I want to keep weight off as much as I can before my metabolism slows down more. At least I only ate it because I was legitimately hungry--I had a big brunch, but no dinner. I wasn't just looking to snack.

Damn it, I want to look good in pasties and a g-string again.

Gotta buy more nutrition bars. They save me time, dishes, and calories. I just have to be careful not to get sick of them. Maybe I'll try the ones Morgan said he liked--the Cliff bars. (By the way, Morgan, lots more are coming to you soon. Tomorrow.)

Clif bars rock. They were made to be tasty and not bricks like powerbars.

Snacking is okay, it's one way to keep your body out of "retain calories" starvation mode.

Lots of water . . .

Get a little exercise, not tons, but walk, or do step aerobics at home.

get your heart rate up and hold it up for at least 30 mins three times a week.

just a few stupid ideas from teh guy who can't gain anything.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm glad the Clif bars are good. :)
I've heard this same stuff from lots of people who think I ought to lose weight. I eat mostly quite healthy stuff, take vitamins and minerals, get protein in good amounts as well as carbs, cut down on carbs, drink 8 glasses of water a day, walk as much as I have time for, but I fucking HATE step aerobics. Whoever invented them should have her skin peeled off and be placed still living over an anthill. They are of the devil.

I think I'm on the right track if I'm losing weight. Basically, I needed to eat less and stop eating at restaurants so much.

okay. As you know, I wasn't commenting whether you need to lose wieght or not, that's your call.

Was giving a few tips.

Step is evil I'll grant you that.

But, is it the lesser of two weevils?

No, I know you weren't saying that. I was mostly talking about some doctors who think you have to be skinny to be healthy. They said this stuff to me when I was at the peak of my karate condition.

No, step is the greater of the weevils, definitely. I'd rather dance or have sex or hike or do calisthenics any day. Or ride my bike, but that's down in RI.

i used to like luna bars, until i took a case of them to nepal. then, i despised them.

don't buy a case of them. don't allow them to be your only source of chocolate. bad idea. :)

i'd welcome ideas for getting fitter. i haven't found a gym i want to go to. i'm feeling flat broke, so i don't feel i can afford e.g. karate lessons, which would be nice to start again.

i don't think i'm in any danger of being as large as my mom. she was 300lbs when i was small. big woman.

Hmm. Buy a "learn belly dance" tape! :) MUCH more fun than step aerobics, in my (never humble enough) opinion. :P

There's no way I'd let nutrition bars become my only source of chocolate. Gods, no. In fact, the ones I'm thinking of getting aren't even chocolatey.

Ack. I just thought that they looked dumb, had bad music, and were no fun. I guess they can be dangerous too! :(

Cliff bars ARE good. So are Zone bars -- especially the chocolate mint ones. (YUM!!) If you're looking to cut back on carbs, the Atkins bars aren't bad either. I'd recommend the peanut butter or chocolate ones (there are several chocolate ones). They also make a REALLY good apple cinnamon breakfast bar as well, but those can be a little pricey.
