I've had your everyday exercise lately, for someone who works in an office. a fair bit of walking, coupled with sprints to catch a train that's going to pull out of the station. I've jogged up and down stairs with a full laundry basket, but not lots of stairs. I've horsed around in the water up to my knees, darting about while I squirted people with waterguns. But I haven't had a real workout since my dance recital. Fuck. I'm out of shape. I finally did a good workout today. Not a hugely long one, but I didn't have much time. 20 minutes of abs, quads, lats, whatever that muscle is on the back of your calf, triceps. and cardio. I did some stuff from my dance classes, some stuff from my karate classes, and some stuff with this little rowing-thingy I bought, which is good for abs and lats. It felt damned good. I can't do enough sit-ups, though. As a teenager, I did 150-200 a day when I was in karate. I did about 80 today. Ugh. But I don't want to be sore tomorrow, because I want to do it again then! I forgot how nice it was to sweat. I need more sweaty physical activity in my life.

Date: 2004-07-15 06:29 am (UTC)But good for you.
I've been bad about working out for the last few months, myself, and have been bemoaning the loss of strength and flexibility. Must start again soon.

Date: 2004-07-15 06:33 am (UTC)I really love calisthenics. I love doing stuff in my tiny room, with little or no equipment, and getting a good workout. Jumping jacks are one of my favorites--great way to get the heart pumping.
