Friday night: PNO. Scary chick present. I was already feeling like this. I had no date. Combined, these factors led to a decision NOT to go to ManRay after. I went home and fell asleep on the T. Bleah.

Saturday was shopping-heavy. Grand Opening was the first stop (ok, after the bagel place). Bought goodies. Then I went next door to the Indian clothing store, Delhi. Bought an altar cloth, a sarong for me, a sarong that turns out to be for [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart, and another present for the boy, just something that caught my eye. Then groceries. Needed that. The evening was spent in a chat date. Brownies (No-Pudge Fudge, mint chocolate) were made at 1am. Warm brownies were finally eaten.

Sunday morning started out with a lovely phone call, alas, all too short. Lots and lots of laundry followed, and cooking prep work. Over to [livejournal.com profile] lindalee's in the evening, and lots of food. Got back way late, though taking a cab from Porter made it earlier than it might have been. Took down all the postcards (90 now? something like that...) from my wall in preparation for the painters. Slept. Not enough.

And two good things:

1. Phone dates and chat dates
2. SPINACH!!! :D

Spinach???

Of all the things that.....
NO, spinach will never, ever, not in a million years make my short list.

Well, variety is the spice of life. Glad it makes someone happy.

I like it quite a bit. I just find it very amusing that at the potluck dinner I had last night, there were three dishes with spinach in them, two of which were primarily spinach.

Well, I know what kind of quiche you will prefer. I am glad someone likes the stuff. I personally have major problems with it when it is cooked. At least I can get it down raw.

Post Cards

Cool decorating tip on dealing with postcards: Use poster Board so that you can always roll them up and save them for posterity. You could take and trace the outline of the card on the poster board, cut slits for the corners to fit in and mount them that way. If you want to get real fancy buy backing board and photo mounts (small press on corners). This way you can take the card down and read the message or look at the picture without having to use tape or glue.

Another idea that I have seen used successfully is the card clothes line. Run string between 2 hangers on the wall and use old fashioned clothes pins to hold the cards in place. Again, you can remove or re-arrange the cards without tape or glue. And, it doesn't look like a stalker's den. You can keep the momentos of loved ones and display them in a decorative fashion without looking like a school locker.

These are actually decorative postcards and other cards, not souvenir types for the most part. I like the idea about poster board. It does make it a little harder to rearrange them for new rooms or add new ones, but maybe I could think about it. It would save me a hell of a lot of taping...
