Some good stuff
Aug. 25th, 2004 10:26 am1. Yesterday, I talked to a guy from Paris, in French! It has been SO long since I put my skill with foreign tongues to good use. ;) He was working at EMS, and asked me in French if I spoke French. I replied that I spoke a bit (hell, I used to be great, but I'm rusty). He had thought I was European. We chatted a bit. I recommended Sunset Grille and Tap to him. Told him I was going camping with my boyfriend, who is a soldier. It was fun. Good workout for me. He was fairly cute, too...looked North African in origin.
2. Date tonight! :)
3. One of my Yahoo horrorscopes: "If there's a big joint project you're trying to pull off, you'll have to be the one that gets organized. Try not to resent your partner's skittishness with details." Hehehe. Gotcha. Thanks for the advance warning.
4. Going to Windsor Button this evening to pick up stuff for a very special project that
dee_cee,
erik_j_meyer,
witchyspyce, and
whiteboy heard me discussing. :)
5. People on the Amber & Jet mailing list saying nice things to my boy. I feel so proud of him when I hear other people giving him respect for what he's doing.
6. (probably) SIX MORE DAYS!!!
1. Poor Fluffy.
2. Problems the boy is having. Want to help, not sure how.
3. Can't find a #$&%^ tarp big enough for my #%^&* tent. I need a groundcloth that's 12 x 12. The hardware store didn't have 'em. Neither did EMS. Gah. I may have to ask my parents to bring one up to me, even though I won't really have much time to spend with them if they come up.
4. Still haven't heard back from my maintenance people about an ETA for the mold removal. Fuckers. I'll call again at lunch.
And there you have it. More good than bad. I'll take that any day of the week.

Re: Tarps
Date: 2004-08-25 07:53 am (UTC)#2, Can't go. I don't have a car.
But thanks. :) I will try more hardware stores. If all else fails, I may duct-tape two smaller tarps together...
Re: Tarps
Date: 2004-08-25 08:13 am (UTC)There're tarps also at Belle Grove, the last time Jeff and I were there. I don't know if any were 12x12 (didn't check), but if you run out of places to look, maybe those might do.
Re: Tarps
Date: 2004-08-25 08:16 am (UTC)There is one more camping store I'll have time to check. I will TRY to check another if they don't have it, but it might be hard to find time. I'll try to find other hardware stores near me, too.

Date: 2004-08-25 08:24 am (UTC)Anyway... let me know if you are successful or not at finding what you need. If you don't mind reimbursing, I can go find one and buy it for you and just bring it with me when I come up to the Farm (which is Thursday afternoon).

Date: 2004-08-25 08:53 am (UTC)1) Find something called seam sealer. Use it anywhere there is stitching on the floor
2) Waterproofing lasts a year. Buy more, out only on the floor
Again my coherent skills are poor due so much sleepiness.
Look at these links and do more research

3) Also I kept drier when I also kept smaller tarps inside the tent in addtion to the ground cloth tent under the tent.
4) "no edges should stick out from under the tent. If the ground cloth is too big it can actually catch rain and direct it back under your tent.". Yep, this happened where we had pockets of rain on the roof that needed to be "swooshed".
5) Take office supply alligator clips and lots of exta rope in case you do develop rain pockets on the roof. It a quick way to increase tension on the roof.
6) Tuppers are good to keep stuff dry but can leak.
Re: Tarps
Good luck! I have a bunch of the blue painter's tarps left over, but I'm a bit of a hike. :P
