Random stuff, good and bad

Things that make me happy:

1. Getting an e-mail from someone on one of my mailing lists, praising me for my rational, articulate posts there. *blush*

2. Lots of info on the Maritimes to look at and drool over in anticipation of a vacation!

3. Made some NICE incense last night! (See? I did it, ok?) Made me feel a bit odd, but I've had some odd feelings lately in general. Not bad. Just...new. Unexpected.

4. Made it to work on time today in spite of leaving late. Whew!

5. My friend Dan may come up to visit me in January! YAY! It's been two years now since I last saw him.


Not so nice: Had a bad dream last night about scorpions. Gah. But I've never dreamed about them, so maybe I will ponder what it might mean. It's not my usual vivid dream time, so I think it might be worth looking into.

I haven't lately come across anyone who would fit into that sort of thing. No one around me is really destructive atthis time, thank the gods. There was something in the dream where someone was making me stand perfectly still when one was on me, even though I was terrified and wanted to brush it off wildly. They had me stand still and took it off me carefully so it didn't sting me. I think trust may be an issue presented in the dream, but not in the way it is in the fable.

Funny that. Just recently I recalled, for no apparent reason, the old fable about the scorpion and the frog.

I applied it to a situation I recently encountered. I knew a person was a certain way, but they had never been anything but kind to me. I opened myself up to this person, allowing them to hurt me more than their actions should have.

You see scorpions are not vendictive, and do not seek to do harm to humans. But, they are incredibly predictable in the harm that they do cause. Perhaps you are seeing the destruction in your life in the form of scorpions. The point is, knowing that someone is destructive in a predictable manner will help guide you in how to deal with them.

I've been making good incense for a while now, but recently I was given the task of making some particularly for my patron goddess. She kept nudging me about it, even helping me out by giving me flashes of the smell she wanted. I discussed it with someone else who knows her well, and managed to get it right the first time around, or if not PERFECT, close enough that she is content. Makes me very happy. :)
