As a New Yorker, I wish the Yanks had been there. But, as you probably know we always root for the team located closest to Brooklyn, even if it is Boston.
Congratulations! Don't tell anyone from NY I said this, but, you have a really great team and I just love the intense rivalry between the two teams.
I mentioned last night that I was kind of wishing the Yankees had won in '01. Not because I like them, but because I thought it would be a good morale-booster for the city after 9/11.
Yeah, me too. But I want to win fair and square and it just wasn't in the cards that year. Enjoy the celebrations; your team deserves it after their spectacular performance.
Interesting. Thanks. Honestly, as someone whose family is almost entirely in NY (Dad's family is in Brooklyn, Mom's is in Staten Island), this phenomenon of the Red Sox Religion stunned me. Alas, I have also learned, in my travels, to adapt to my surroundings, even if that means cheering on the home-town team.
Personally, I grew up a Cubs fan, though. We were living in Chicago at that time. Go figure.

I have seen three sports miracles in my life: Team USA Hockey 1980. Lance Armstrong in the Tour. And the 2004 Red Sox.
I believe.
