There are few things more comforting than a nice spicy soup served good and warm when you are coming down with a cold. Why are hot and spicy things so soothing to my sore throat? It's weird. It's why when I'm sick, I make chai with black and cayenne pepper as well as the usual cinnamon, ginger, etc. Mmmmm. Spices. :)

At least it's just a sore throat and a general desire to curl up under blankets right now. I hope it doesn't get any worse.

I'm thinking about making my lovely cranberry sauce and a diet-friendly sweet potato dish to bring with me to my aunt's house tomorrow. I'm going to cook at my parents' place, which means I get to use their gorgeous new kitchen! Granite counters with chunks of labradorite in them...professional Viking range...All-Clad pots and pans...oh yeah. Porn for cooks. :)

I am very rambly today, apparently.

Oooh, it's SO pretty! There are these flashes of blue and green and gold and orange irridescence in the dark chocolate brown granite. My parents thought it was mica, but I said Labradorite. I have some. I turned out to be right--"Labrador" was part of the name of the product. :)

Oh wow. Me too. Granite counters are great on their own, but with moonstone like colors in it? ooooh...

Wait, you know a good sweet potato recipe, too? What spices and sweetener do you add? I'm making some mashed for tomorrow.

Oh, I was just going to throw something together off the top of my head. I was thinking of adding apple cider, cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger (maybe chopped crystallized), maybe some raisins, and Splenda. Were I not on a diet, I'd use dark brown sugar instead of the Splenda. I'll probably get some fat-free vanilla yogurt to top them with as a garnish.

Sick makes us rambly.

I hope you feel better soon. The holiday you have to look forward to sounds lovely! *cough*kitchen*cough*

I'm going to make homemade mac n cheese for me and G, and other than that, I'm going to work on the condo. If G is not working tomorrow (doubtful,) then we'll go up to see my parents. If he is, I'll go up on Friday.

Hope you get to enjoy your holiday!
