Damnit! I tried to reply to the post I think you're referring to with this:
"I agree about humor being a way of breaking the ice on taboo topics.
However, I'm not sure it sounds so much like the point was to get across that people who are polyamorous should be accepted, if they're using the term "proselytizing"...even in jest. Proselytizing involves trying to convert people to your way of thinking and way of life, and if I'm not ok with it in religion, I'm sure as hell not ok with it in sexuality--something that is arguably biologically based.
So, if the idea was to open minds to other kinds of commitment and love being valid, then kudos to her. If the idea was to "bring them 'round," er...well...no."
...only to find that only members can reply. Oh well. I can see your irritation, but I think I see where the poster was coming from, and just worded it badly. I hope.
The poster was a little foot-in-mouth about it...no biggie. The person who COMMENTED saying that evangelism in the poly community is a good thing is what got my goat.
True evangelists love thy neighbor, but try to convince them to see the light.
The kind of evangelists the poly community need are the those who are already in the community and are trying to get more religious people to acknowledge that sin is only in your head and they should lighten up.
This coming from a member of the monogamy gang...in case anyone reading this don't know Muppetboy.
