Hi folks!

I would like to announce that I am looking for someone to find an apartment with me, moving in on March 1. I am open to girls or boys, gay, straight, bi, asexual, whatever. I'm poly-friendly and pagan-friendly (duh), and I would be willing to take on another cat or two in addition to my Lucy. I want to find a 2-br in Somerville, preferably within walking distance of Porter or Davis Square. I'm looking in the $1300-1400/month range. If there's anyone here who'd like to join me, please speak up! Also, if you have any friends who are looking and who I can trust to be good with the rent and to do their share of housework, let me know. [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart will have to stay with me for the first month or so, but is going to get his own place as soon as he can. Rent will be split three ways while he's there, with him paying his own share.

Any takers?

Have you tried housegoth?

Nope, never heard of it. I'm going to look at Craig's List, but really I would like to exhaust the options of my friends and my friends' friends first. I'd rather not live with a total stranger.

"I'd rather not live with a total stranger"

No, you really don't.
Refer back to my awful experience with the Stinky Roommate Boy who was perhaps the most disgusting and inconsiderate human being I've been around. Found him on roommates.com, and was desperate to keep the place.

Good idea, looking through friends, first.

newsgroup posting

What [livejournal.com profile] mizdarkgirl said, with elaboration...post on newsgroups that have friends on there who can vouch for the quality of people, and that focus on things you're comfortable with. So post to PBA for poly-friendly people in the area, or local pagan groups, or geek groups, whatever...if you get someone you don't know, ask a friend in the group if they know them, and your friends' networking capabilities have just expanded wonderfully.

So...same as I did for [livejournal.com profile] buxom_bey when she was looking for renters...would you like us to help by posting on our own journals to direct people to you so the word gets out more? Just write what sort of ad you'd like, and we can post it, and feel vaguely helpful.

I've posted on a PolyMatchmaker...got one offer from a couple, even though there I was specific about not wanting couples. That's all. I am also planning on posting to my Pagan lists...I know most of the people on them because I run most of them now. :)

I would definitely appreciate it if you wanted to put up a notice on your own journal. I'll write out something and send it to you later today. Thank you!

Ah, the benefit of having a decently large friends list...([livejournal.com profile] wench33 would be even better for that reason)
Let me know if you want it filtered to friends only, though I'm not sure it'd make a difference.

Aww, thanks. :) The moving itself is not in my planning now, but I'll let you know if I intend to get a moving company or if I need friends to help me.

Actually, quite possibly, if I don't find something before then. I'm officially on leave from Harvard, and I get to start apartment hunting tomorrow. Ideally, I'm looking for a furnished sublease of a room somewhere with apartment-mates, but if I don't have any luck, I would be *quite* interested, depending on the specifics. We should talk.

I would supply furniture for most of the apartment, but you'd need a bed and whatever else for your room. Oh, this could work! :)

I can even help out on deposit. With no need to get it back to me at all.

Not sure if that will be necessary, love. Paying your portion of the first month's rent would probably be enough.

If I end up moving, my current roommate, S, will (much to her disappointment) have to move. She's another witchy poly type, rsponsible, pays the rent on time and wants to stay in this area.

Hmmmm.

That might be promising. S is a nice person, and obviously can live with cats. :)
