Ook. Fading fast. *yawn*

So after my lovely meal, I was rescued from an otherwise dreary evening by [livejournal.com profile] zzbottom, and got to eat ice cream, sit on a comfy couch, and watch Catch Me If You Can, which was far more entertaining than most movies with Tom Hanks or Leonardo DiCaprio.

Yeah. You can tell I'm tired when my sentences develop a near-Proustian length.

And when I get distracted by the word Proustian and decide to go look at what French books I still have.

Anyway...Pun of the Evening: [livejournal.com profile] zzbottom was describing a wedding of some Armenian relatives, and said it was a lavish affair. I, of course, had to reply that it must have been a lahvash affair as well. I almost got in trouble for that one. :) Papa would be proud.

Hmm. Nice evening, good entertainment, good company, and now good time to get my arse into bed and sleep. 'Night, all.

Guess what song just came on the radio (WGBH's A Celtic Sojourn)? "John Barleycorn".

It's a version I've never heard before. Slow, but in a major key, and with slightly different lyrics. Pretty. I wonder who does it.

Anyway, guess what I'm in the middle of doing right now? Making another yeasted beer bread.

ROFLMAO.

Grateful

You know, I've seen a lot of people posting gratitude-related stuff lately. I'm not sure why, but I like the idea. I remember a quote I read once--I think I saw it on some quote-of-the-day calendar--that said, "The really difficult moment for the atheist is when he's truly thankful, but has nobody to thank," or something like that. :)

That said, I'm grateful for the most beautiful late-summer weather I've ever known. I'm grateful that the air seems to be full of possibility in so many ways these days. I feel like there are good things out there like ripe plums sitting on a branch, and that all I have to do is reach out and pluck them before they fall.

Life is good these days. I'm grateful for that.

Oh, and this version of "John Barleycorn" was by Tim Van Eyken. Cool.
