Aug. 21st, 2006 08:46 amFriday night confirmed my views that Sabur is a kick-ass restaurant. After two Purple Hazes, a bunch of shared appetizers, and a nummy dessert, I was quite content. Definitely a fitting celebration for a new job. :)
Saturday was
malaki42's perverted barbecue. Woo-hoo! There was much tasty meat. Almost...dare I say...TOO much. Many cows died to feed us their yummy ribs. I had an excellent time chatting with all my friends and also meeting new people like
sea_dark_wine. I was utterly and thoroughly exhausted by the time I got home.
Sunday started off with pancakes and Eggbeaters, and with my first bite, I swallowed the top ball of my tongue ring.
Oops.
I think I may have stripped the threads a bit when I was cleaning it the other day. At least this time, when I went to the store in the Garage for a replacement, they had the 1/2" 12-gauge barbell I really wanted. It feels so good having a tongue ring that doesn't dig into my gums. Maybe now my gums will heal, and I won't have to get rid of the piercing altogether. The rest of the day was quite lazy, apart from some mild cleaning. I really SHOULD have done laundry yesterday, but it was too damn hot to sit in a non-air-conditiioned laundromat. Ick. I guess I'll have to do that on Wednesday evening, if I can manage to pull together two more outfits. I don't want to have to completely miss Diesel tomorrow.
Tonight,
pierceheart and I are having dinner with
tigira and
meadmaker, which naturally will be fun.
I was supposed to have one of three days of training this week for my new job, reporting to the place where I will be working at the time when I will be working. Well, I showed up there at 8:30 (which is when my day will start), and was informed that the person training me doesn't usually get in until about 9:30. So I came back to the office where I'm currently working, called that woman, left her a voicemail stating that I was in and would be ready to start whenever she called me, and settled down to wait. Hey, at least I still get to charge my hours for today as starting at 8:30.
I got my benefits and other info packet in the mail Saturday. I'm gonna have to choose a health plan. At my old job, we only had the one choice. Now we have several. It looks like an HMO will be my cheapest option, by a factor of two to four compared with POS and PPO options. Yikes. But the benefits all in all look amazing. I'm very happy. :)
