I was envious of [livejournal.com profile] evalisbeth's yummy-sounding breakfast, so I decided I had to make something special myself. I ended up with two strips of good Boar's Head bacon and two halved heirloom tomatoes, all broiled to the perfect doneness, and two slices of whole grain toast with no processed sugars added. I sprinkled the tomatoes with fleur de sel, fresh-ground black pepper, and mixed Italian herbs. Lately, I've been perplexed about what to do with my toast. I'm not a big fan of margarine, I don't want to have too much butter in my diet (because hey, saturated fats aren't health food either, and this meal already had bacon in it), and I don't currently have any jam but fig, and that isn't what I normally want on toast in the morning. So, lately I've been eating my toast dry. If I don't get light bread, it's actually quite good. I really get the grain flavor that way. I think that from now on, I am going to do that most of the time, and maybe get a little jar of good marmalade for those times when I want something added.

On the to-do list for today, now that I'm fed and caffeinated:

1. Find out where the studs are in my back closet wall
2. Buy the stuff I need to improve my closet (a board, two braces, a metal rod, and some hardware)
3. Fix up the closet
4. Go grocery shopping: I need apples, and other things
5. Figure out how to download some new ringtones to my phone, now that I have a USB cable for it

And on another note, I may be asking for a new iPod for Christmas this year from my parents. The battery on mine seems to be taking and holding less and less of a charge as time goes on. That might be because of the soaking it got this summer, I don't know. It might just be that the battery's old. This IS a 3rd-generation, after all. I don't know how long those batteries last. These days, I can get about a couple of albums' worth of music out of it before it dies. I don't think it's fully charging because I can leave it charging all night (and it will show that it's charging, and show a big "fully charged" icon in the morning, but when I take it off the dock, the little battery icon shows only a partial charge. If I replace it on the dock after that, it will start charging again, and by the time I have to leave for work, it's still not showing a full charge. Meh. I want to be able to hear more music than this.
