The battery on my iPod is dying. I either need a new iPod or a new battery. I've looked at new iPods. I don't need that much crap. I could get one that's a bit newer than mine but not the latest model on eBay for $160. That's still a buttload of money. I can get a kit from one website with instructions, a new battery, and an opener tool to replace it myself for $37.
Thing is, if I break my iPod in trying to replace the battery, I would need to get a new one anyway.
Have any of you folks done an iPod battery replacement? Is it easy? Even for someone who most decidedly did NOT "come first in jiggery-pokery?" I've never done any work with computer hardware or any kind of electronics. I'm good at following directions, but with something in which I have no experience, they have to be really amazingly clear and precise directions.
