badseed1980: (neubauten)
1. I am such a bad, bad fangirl. I COMPLETELY MISSED that Einstürzende Neubauten put out a new album, called The Jewels. The concept sounds wicked cool, and reviews are complimentary. Apparently, there's a lot of very sophisticated blending of their more recent style with their older style, which, to me, is a thrilling idea. Must acquire! Oooh!

2. I had super amazingly tasty Lebanese food last night with J. We ate at Café Barada. We split baba ghanouj as an appetizer. I had the felafel sandwich with Lebanese pickles on it and a Syrian salad, and he had the hummus and felafel sandwich with rice pilaf. We had baklava for dessert. NOM. NOM. NOM. Needless to say, we could not finish our sandwiches, and brought the rest home. I have mine for lunch!

3. So much to look forward to over the next few days! The first of them is girly cocktails with [livejournal.com profile] vervain13 tonight. He will be the chef and I will be the mixologist. In stock, among other things, are: Hendricks, Noilly Prat, rosewater, fresh-picked garden basil, fresh-picked garden thyme, fresh mint, blueberries (locally grown), watermelon juice, limes, pineapple juice, brandy, champagne, vodka, white rum, dark rum, tequila, Grand Marnier, etc. Whew!

4. Gonna be hot and possibly stormy today. Which makes me think of dark and stormies. Which makes me think of ginger beer. Hmm. Maybe I can get some of that! Trader Joe's? Think so.

In case of fire, leave!
But what about zombies, huh?
What do we do then?

(Our floor's fire wardens met with us today at the office to talk about what to do in case of an emergency, and it was mostly about fires. But I watched Dawn of the Dead last night, and came very close to asking what we should do in the event of a zombie invasion.)

Kits and sets. I've always been one of those people who, if something is sold as a kit or a set, goes, "ooooh!" and wants it, even if I might not want the components all that much. When I was a kid, it was stuff like those kits that include crayons, markers, paints, stickers, and construction paper. Or kits for making jewelry. As a teen, it was those makeup kits that would appear in CVS at Christmas that had about 20-30 tiny eyeshadows, 10 lipsticks, and 6 blushes. Never mind that I'd only use about 4 of the eyeshadows, 2 lipsticks, and 1 blush, and that they were crappy quality. They were in a KIT, and that kit gave me UNLIMITED OPTIONS. These days, it's all that stuff and more. :)
