A few things
Jan. 19th, 2005 01:17 pm1. I am almost 100% sure I'm going to Arisia! I think I was persuaded because a fellow n00b,
geoogo, is going with his girlfriend. I suggested that the three of us could wander around the place aimlessly since we don't know what's going on, until we run into people we know. Now. Do I buy a ticket in advance or at the door? Is it in a place where cell phones work? Will I have fun even though I'm not doing the whole stay-at-the-hotel thing?
2. My friend JC (a non-LJ-using type) has a roommate, B, who really wants out of their apartment. JC says B would probably like to stick around Somerville, where they currently live. I have met him once at a party, and he seemed pretty cool...geeky type, fairly laid back, something like my current roommate . I let JC know the basics of what I'm looking for and asked him to find out if B is interested. I'm crossing my fingers! Friends of friends are better than total strangers by a long shot.
3. I have nothing further to report. Over and out.

Date: 2005-01-19 06:33 pm (UTC)Cell phones tend not to work in some parts of the Park Plaza, but they do work in others. So it's spotty.
Personally, I'll be spending lots of time with 6-10 year olds in the Fast Track area on the 4th floor. This should be fun.

Have fun! I hope to see you there sometime over the weekend!

Date: 2005-01-19 07:10 pm (UTC)Well, seeing that I've heard nothing, and we're leaving for Arisia tomorrow night, I don't think I am. (I'm PMS-ing and being pretty overly cranky about it).
I will, however be wandering around the Con, always up for aimless wandering!

Date: 2005-01-19 07:07 pm (UTC)Go here:

for more info about whether you want to be there the entire time.
Yes, cell phones tend to have little problem in that hotel, so don't worry about that.
Yes, you can have a grand ol' time without a room, but it might be fun to party till late Saturday night, and then if you have to leave you might miss the T. Some people may let you crash on their floors, or you can just stay up all night--another popular option at cons. ;)
I'd be happy to introduce you to people, but I also doubt you'd have any problems doing it yourself, so if you want hints on things not to miss, just ask.
There is almost no benefit to signing up before at this point

Tell me what you thought of it when you can.
