I saw someone mentioning a roast beef sandwich somewhere on LJ. Now, I am utterly craving one. Cold rare red meat. Mmm. Want. No, it can't be PMS. Not at all. Nope. :P I should at least get it with mustard, but the idea of an herbed mayonnaise sounds very tempting. Hmm. We'll see.

Damned hormones.

PNO tonight, and I will be there. So will [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart, probably [livejournal.com profile] dolphindream, and almost certainly F. Yay for group-o-Pagans and beer! :D

Also, a question: What's your favourite swanky romantic restaurant in Boston? [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart and I are considering Bomboa for our anniversary, but I wouldn't mind hearing some other opinions. If you can say how much we would expect to pay for 2 people at the place you recommend, that would be groovy. I don't think either of us wants Italian or straightforward Asian. Other than that, we'd go for lots of stuff.

Does it have to be in Boston?

The Gibbet Hill Grill is lovely, it's in Groton, which is a bit of a hike form Boston, but a nice drive, and the prices aren't too crazy - I think you can do dinner for two with apps and desert and nice wine for about $100?

Unless you order the duck. If they have the duck.

In the interests of full disclosure, I'll mention that my uncle owns it.

Hmm...sounds like a nice place, but I am looking for something with a little more of an exotic/creative/"froofy" menue for this. I have to say, though, that looks like a great place to check out sometime. Will keep it on the list!

it's a sweet place, although totally standard food.

Yummy food though.

On the roast beef sandwich? Yum! Don't know anywhere around here that does that, alas.

You're joking. It's standard for RB.
Kelly's Roast Beef (where I used to work) serves the meat warm, but it's fresh right out of the oven, flavored somewhat with onions, the rareness you prefer, and lots of it, on a toasted bun.

And they do horseradish.
Straight. Not sauce.

Not a romantic swanky restaurant, but definitely something to try when you're craving beef. Nearest one's in Revere, and it's right on the beach. :) Try the onion rings, too.

"Around here" for the roast beef is "In the Downtown Crossing area where I can have lunch", though!

What's wrong with those people?? I mean, I don't like it, but almost every time roast beef is served, horseradish is an option.
Feh.
Sorry to hear that.

Well, most of the stuff around here is fairly boring cafes. You get your standard soup, sandwich, and salad options. There might be a place in Faneuil Hall that does horseradish, but your average Au Bon Pain and suchlike don't usually have it.

Is PNO at Diesel?

Nope! It's at Phoenix Landing, on Mass Ave in Central Square. Right down the street from Hubba-Hubba.

Sorry 'bout that, I think that was me, part of strange warped dream, oh, and I never did get that sandwich, even in the dream.

mmmmm.... now I really am hungry. But too much work to do to do anything about it. Ah well, it was only a dream to begin with anyway.

Amy cousin was a chef at the Nashoba Valley Winery (http://www.nashobawinery.com/) restaraunt. We went there a couple times, and it was.. pretty damn good. I found this review (http://gonewengland.about.com/library/users/ucjsrestaurant.htm) as one of the first hits on it. I'm sure it's not as good now that he doesn't work there, but yanno.

Oh, and of course, you can access their dinner menu from that site, and figure out how much it'd cost yo damn self! o.O

Ok, that's cool. I'm not lazy, but I know a lot of restaurants' online menus don't have pricing. If this one does, that's fine.

OMG! I didn't mean to come across as actually mean. I just didn't notice the request for general pricing before I posted my comment. ::weeps:: I LOVE YOU.

Non, non, mon cher! Calmez-vous!

I'm just saying, if you would rather just say, "prices are on the menu" than "it's about $150 for dinner for two", that is a perfectly reasonable thing to do. :)

Another of our favorite places.....

...and where we recently celebrated our one-year wedding anniversary is Dahli, near Harvard Square. You can make an entire meal out of tappas, enjoy amazing sangria and take a romantic apres diner promenade through the Harvard campus.

A nice dinner for two, with lots o' sangria, can be had for $60-$100 (depending on how much tappas you can eat). But try to go earlish for the best seating or call ahead to get yourself on the wait list before you head over.
