Last night being the third Wednesday of the month, I went out with
dee_cee for some Lodge-night knitting goodness. We were joined by
leenah and F, who was kind enough to agree to come along when I told him I'd accidentally scheduled our date on the night of my Lodge-night knitting. D'oh. I was glad he showed up, though: it was nice to finally get to introduce him to some of my friends.
Anyway, we went to Grendel's Den for dinner. F and I decided to split the cheese fondue for two. It came with side salads, which were tasty. The fondue, however, tasted like ass. There was probably five times as much kirsch in it as there should have been. It was all I could taste. I was actually drinking cider between bites because it tasted LESS boozy than the fondue. There was no cheesy goodness, and not enough salt. Normally, you set a bowl of hot melty cheese in front of me, and it'll be gone as soon as you can blink. This time, I gave up as soon as I was no longer hungry. Gah.
We progressed to Peet's after dinner, for tea and knitting. Got some tasty smokey Russian Caravan tea. Then they closed at nine. Damn. We tried Tealuxe, but there was nowhere to sit. We went to Cafe Paradiso next. Plenty of seating! And gelato! OMG, the gelato. I got pistachio and was in heaven. We took up our knitting again. Then the lights all went out. WTF?? It wasn't a blackout...probably a circuit breaker or something. After a while, they came back on again. Yay. We started stitching. Then they went out again, and we finally decided that since it was already quarter to ten, we should just give up. We must have offended the Gods of Knitting or something, for all this to happen. Fortunately, we had a great time through it all. The dark made me fuck up my knitting and I had to rip it all out, but at least we were cracking each other up most of the time.
Said goodnight to F at the T station, and headed for home. I gave
pierceheart a call to say goodnight when I got to Davis, and eventually collapsed in my bed.
Never again will I get the cheese of DOOM, and never again will I bring knitting to Paradiso at night. Oy.

Date: 2005-09-22 03:03 pm (UTC)I was sad, because I'd always wanted cheese fondue, but had never had it. Luckily, F wants to make one sometime. I KNOW he can cook. :)
