Ok, so like I said, I changed my mind and decided to get a desktop from Dell. We use Dells at work pretty frequently, and they seem to work well. I want to get the Dell Dimension B110.

Details:

* Intel Celeron D Processor 330 (2.66GHz, 533 FSB)
* XP Home
* 1 GB RAM (an upgrade from 512 MB)
* 160 GB hard drive
* 16X CD/DVD burner w/ double layer write capability
* Floppy drive (makes it easier for me to transfer files from my old laptop)
* 17" flat panel monitor
* Keyboard and mouse

And pierceheart has speakers I can have. :)

There's a $50 rebate deal now, and free shipping, so with all this and a $24 handling charge, it will cost me a total of $703, buying directly from Dell! :D

I think I should order it sometime this week.

[edit: I just noticed that the $50 rebate and free 17" flat panel monitor deal ends TOMORROW. Eeek. No more indecision I order this thing by the end of the day.]

*nod* That's a good deal. Also, Dell sometimes runs even cheaper deals; like they say in their commercials, you do have to act fast on those. They typically run no longer than a week before a new deal is offered. (They're also nice enough to let you know how long a particular deal is going to last, so you can pounce when you're good and ready.)

Eh. I just got rid of my Dell. Had it for 2 years, something went wrong & they sent it back from the factory in worse condition. I just got an ibook & I'm really loving it, but I do know folks who've had a better Dell experience...

I know a lot of people who like them, and my insanely picky and hypercritical boss is one of them! I'm not a Mac fan anyway. Never have been, really.
