So I was just paging through my oldest LJ entries, starting at the beginning and working forward. I ran into some that made me feel...not sad, not hurt, but sorry for the person I was then, because I was so full of pain.

And happy, because things are so good now.

And amazed, that I was so taken in by faux sympathy and "friendship".

And content, because I see how friends have developed into very good friends, and very good friends have become family.

I also came across a meme that had a section asking you to list five of your favourite lyrics. One of the ones I'd listed there was this:

We are constantly evolving. We shouldn't feel sorry for the person we were. We might have not been the best we could be, but that time is past.

I am not close to you, I see you very briefly and infrequently, yet I am glad to have know you during this time. In a few moments of contant between us, I have seen the changes and you growing differently.

Enjoy this time of happiness and keep working on it. There's nothing more attractive than you smiling and lighting up the places you go.

I mostly feel sorry for my previous self the way I'd feel sorry for a dear friend going through a hard time. Sympathetic, not pitying.

I'm glad to know you too, sweetie. It makes me feel really good to know that in spite of the drama and problems we've each had, we can still get together and have a great time.

There's nothing more attractive than you smiling and lighting up the places you go.
