Weekend etc.
Feb. 13th, 2006 10:05 amFriday night was rather boring. Saturday was fun. I went to Filene's with
geoogo (I never knew a straight man who LIKED going clothes shopping with women before!) and did very well there. Let me tell you, folks, the downtown Filene's is CHEAP right now. VERY. For a grand total of $61, I got a pair of black leather slingback pumps to wear with my suit ($21), a lilac blouse to wear under my suit ($10), a long dark green patterned skirt ($12), and a luscious lavender angora and lambswool sweater which is Teh Warm ($18). Perfect for a chick who's on a budget but needs to look professional!
Sunday, I got up early so I could make some breakfast for the boy before he had to leave for drill. I knew that if I didn't, he'd either have none or get McDonalds. After he left, I made pancakes for myself. Then I dressed, shoveled, and braved the elements to slog my way to Brooks for a few things. I picked up a couple cans of tuna, a can of mushrooms, and a packet of noodles for making tuna noodle casserole, since I was short on food and didn't want to trek to Shaws. The boy got to come home early, which was good, and I made the casserole for dinner. Yum.
Saturday night and Sunday night both entailed some long chats with
pierceheart. Most of the need for those chats stems from the fact that we haven't had a weekend where we could really spend some quality time together--just the two of us--since at best mid-December. Ouch. Weekday evenings, we've been tired and busy. The only time we've had a real date in all that time was when we went out on my birthday. That, coupled with the fact that F has been very busy lately and engrossed in a lot of changes in his own life, has been making me feel pretty lonely even though I see
pierceheart pretty much every day. So yeah, I get a little upset when he goes out and has fun with other people, when he and I haven't gone out on a date in a rather long time. Any time we've had dinner together out, it's been a quick thing on a weeknight and just because it's more convenient than making dinner at home. (Sitting at Diesel: "I'm hungry. Wanna get some food?" "Sure. Redbones?" "Ok.")
But we've both decided that needs to change, and fast. I need to feel like I'm actually DATING someone again! Thank the gods we have a weekend with NO OBLIGATIONS coming up. And I have REMEMBERED this time to tell the boy in advance that I want 1) my last night of work here, and 2) the night I get and accept a new permanent job offer, to spend with HIM. Doing something fun. Even if it's only going out for a beer together, with which to toast the occasion.
I need some romance, dammit. And yes, tomorrow should really be great. I only wish it were a weekend so we wouldn't have to rush it all.
Hmmm...maybe this is a sign that it is NOT yet time to take down the shrine to Aphrodite, and may indeed be time to dress it up and spend some time there.
Now. Today I am meeting with PSG on my lunch break, to fill out forms and take some sort of an evaluation in MS Office. Piece of cake, I imagine.
