V-Day was great!
I got a lovely bunch of flowers from my
pierceheart on the first Valentine's Day we actually get to spend together. After work, we met up at Diesel where I found him in a nice suit, and everyone was impressed with him. I felt a bit underdressed by comparison, but hey--my skirt was the bomb. I love that shade of green.
Gargoyles was nice. The amuse-bouche of shrimp tartare on tortilla chips was nice--almost like a ceviche. The dirty martinis were nice, though the guy almost took my glass back WITHOUT LETTING ME FINISH THE OLIVES OMG! For shame. Lobster bisque...tasty, but oddly spicy. Not what I want in a lobster bisque. Not the lobstergasm that the stew at Locke-Ober was. The hoisin duck confit was divine, though: crispy skin, melt-in-your-mouth meat, jazzy flavour, with cashews and sticky sweet rice and bean sprouts. Mmm. Dessert was ok: chocolate-caramel panna cotta. Not much taste. F's homemade pecan caramels were nummier.
Got home, eventually went to sleep sore but happy, slept badly because of too much alkyhol, and woke up tired but content.
'Twas good. :)
And now, at last, I am debuting a new icon made by the talented
geoogo who made it out of the default icon that he also made me. :)
