Le week-end
Feb. 19th, 2006 05:09 pmFriday night was not the most exciting start to the weekend.
pierceheart and I scarfed down some leftover chili and baked blue corn chips, and then hauled a metric buttload of laundry to the laundromat. While there, I mentioned that I was out of beer. The boy said we couldn't have that, so we headed over to Downtown Wine and Liquors when the laundry was finished. I don't remember everything he bought, but I got:
* Young's Special London Ale, a cask-conditioned British bitter
* Saison d'Epautre, a Belgian farmhouse-style beer made with spelt
* A. Le Coq Imperial Russian Stout, a tasty kick-your-teeth-in stout
Now there is beer. Yay!
Saturday, we got up fairly early and went to Sound Bites for breakfast--just in time: when we left, there was a line outside the door! And it was FREEZING! I had stuffed French toast with goat cheese and pears. Nice. Then, we hit Penzey's, aka Spice Mecca, where we sniffed and shopped happily. Some of the stuff we bought, we used to make a Moroccan lamb, eggplant, and matzoh pie with spicy tomato sauce. That took forever and was a pain in the ass, but oh MAN, was it tasty! Yum! Leftovers tomorrow night! We watched The Dreamers while we ate: a very weird, well-done, sexy movie.
Today was slow and quiet. Nice. It's good to have days like that.
When we were at Downtown on Friday, we found out they're having their classes again. Tomorrow, we're going to one on barley wine. Yay!
Ok, time to start thinking about what I want to do for dinner tonight. Methinks the boy and I will not want anything very complicated to cook...

Date: 2006-02-19 10:44 pm (UTC)I found The Dreamers quite interesting, specially a couple of comments about Maoists being no more than "extras in a film."
