I've been stalking this guy here at work all morning, trying to get in touch with him to ask him for some things my supervisor wants. First, he took forever to even get in. I kept getting up from my desk to go see if he was in yet. Then, I got up to check one time and his computer and coat were in there, but he wasn't! He snuck by me. I kept checking, and he snuck by me again to get into his office, shut the door, and get on the phone. Oy. I didn't want to interrupt him, so I just kept checking to see when he would get off the phone. No dice. Finally I knocked on the door and asked him to come see me when he had a minute. He will do so. Sheesh. No wonder supervisor is going somewhat crazy working here! :)

Yesterday ended up being "Steak and a Rain Check Day" because I'm still sick. Steak was fucking good though. So were the roasted garlic mashed potatoes and broccoli. Mmm.

Tonight, [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart is going to his lodge meeting, so I will be hanging out with [livejournal.com profile] geooogo for dinner. Sweet. We just need to find a place to go.

We really have to have a knitting night soon, though, all you knitting geeks. I just don't have any projects going on at the moment. I need to check out patterns and get supplies for my mom's slippers. They should be done in time for her to wear them around the house after her rotater cuff surgery, I hope. Poor mom. I'll have to put suede or something on the bottom so she doesn't wear 'em out.

Oh, good news! Last night when I got the mail, my last check from the old job was in there. This in and of itself is a good thing. What makes it even better is that they paid out all my accrued vacation!!! What with that, my Dell rebate, my income tax refunds, and my first direct deposit from PSG, I am actually FLUSH right now, more so than I have been in quite a long time. That's a bit of a relief. I'm not going to squander it or anything, but it's good to know that even if I don't get a high-paying job anytime soon, I can still pay my rent easily for a good while. YAY!

Not everything is fabulous in my life right now, but the good stuff is really good, and I have hope that the bad stuff can get better, one way or another. I feel oddly full of optimism and possibility. Must be the coming Spring.

Oh, he's so much fun to make! Quick, too. I used Homespun, which looks great, but it's a real bastard to weave in the ends because of its tendency to unravel and get all poofy, and there's a lot of weaving in to do on this guy because of all the seams and attachments.

oh yeah, i've done stuff w/ homespun. soft, pretty, PITA.

but, pretty.

And I can help with crochet stuff as well! And I can bring my "when bad crochet happens to good yarn" project. A cute hat that looks fugly on me.

For the slippers, if you use the puffy fabric paint, they will extend the life of the slippers AND make them non-skid.

The fabric paint wears well. I use it on the bottom of the feet of my taekwondo shin/footguards for two reasons: It stops my feet from sliding and secondly, the red paint is a distraction to the opponent.

Yeah, I've heard that, but I like the idea of stitching suede better. Suede's not too slippery, and it takes forever to wear through. My mom's likely to be wearing these all day every day for a while.

if you can get it done, make her two pair, so she can swap them. wearing the same shoes every day makes them wear REALLY fast, and doesn't give them time to air out between wearings.

I might just give her one and then make another afterwards.

I really need to learn how to knit. Can I bug you at some point to give me a crash course when I'm not full of the busy?

Ok, I think that could be arranged. :) After all, I taught [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart how to knit. I'm sure I can teach you.

Just remember the Sweater Curse: don't make sweaters for people who you're dating, or they will break up with you! :P You can only do so safely after you're married. And if you say, "Bah, I am not superstitious!" and make a sweater for [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart, I will sulk. Just because I want to be the first sweetie to knit him a sweater. 'Kay? I try not to ask for TOO much, but this is one request I have. Silly, yes, but I am a rabid knitter and it means a lot to me. :)

*nods*

Check. No sweaters for sweeties.

From: [identity profile] badseed1980.livejournal.com
Of course, that just goes for sweaters. Anything else is cool, I believe. Though I think that if I knit one of my sweeties a fluffy pink scarf they might dump me. Wait, no: [livejournal.com profile] dahveed76 would probably like that! ;)

Or even worse...

A fluffy pink hat with kitty ears.

*imagines [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart wearing a fluffy pink kitty hat... with his army fatigues*

Yeah. That really wouldn't go over so well.

(I am full of sillyness right now. I think it's the library fumes.)

Anything will be fun though... :)

Especially if it DOES make you jump out of your pants. That would be highly amusing in a restaurant. :P

What kind of food do you feel like having? Mexican? Indian? Japanese? Chinese? Vietnamese? American? Italian? Barbecue?

Ever had shabu-shabu? We could go to Shabu-Zen in Chinatown. Japanese hot pot!

From: [identity profile] cutieyum.livejournal.com
That sounds really nice. "The friendship meal" is a nick name for shabu-shabu (the sound of the boiling broth). Do you really get to cook your own food at Shabu-Zen?

*have fun guys*

Yes, you do. It's a great place. You can have a choice of broths, and there's raw meats and seafood and veggies to choose from. Awesome food. I've been there about 4-5 times now, and have always left stuffed. And it's pretty healthy food, too: no grease.

Has GeooGo taken Badseed1980 to the taste the best sushi in all MA? Yes, a little known placed in Arlington called "Toraya."

At times, being in that mom & pop restaurant full of Japanese families and tourists I feel that I am back in Japan. Japanese tourists frequent it and get the restaurant packed on the weekend nights, making impossible to dine. They even take pictures to take back home.

Toraya prices are a bit lower that the chic trendy places, but the sushi is SUPERIOR. The meals are average. Ah, they also use fresh ginger and a wasabi paste that is closer to the real thing than most other restaurants.
