badseed1980Yesterday was the Great Day of Cooking for me. I made a cake for the first time in over a year, and also whipped up a batch of guacamole. Both were for ![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
geoogo and cutieyum's poker party last night. I was so psyched about how the cake turned out. It was chocolate with chocolate frosting (both of which had some amaretto in them), and between the layers was a filling made of cherry preserves, amaretto, and maracschino cherry liquid. I decorated the top with maraschino cherries encircled with red decorative frosting. It was teh yum, and it even looked like a real cake this time instead of a frosted mound that was vaguely cakeish in shape! geoogo, could you tell that it was my hand cream that made me come up with this recipe? ;) The guac was awesome too, if I do say so myself. I fucking love guacamole.
I have come to the conclusion that poker is not my game. It's just no fun when you only get shitty hands, and when you only have a limited amount of time in which to bluff, which might not be enough time to make someone fold and let you win the hand. Blah. Nonetheless it was a great evening with great people. :)
Today we're going to seeharlenna's concert in Springfield. Yay, music!
Now I'm starting to get hungry for breakfast lunch (seeing as I somehow managed to work up an appetite earlier this morning...) and that damned cake in the fridge is calling to me. Oy. But I'd better save that and have real food, and wait until the boy returns to eat.
