Shiksappeal
Apr. 15th, 2006 12:54 pmThursday night I was a guest at a Passover Seder. It was the first time I'd been to one as an adult. The one I went to as a kid didn't include a lot of the rituals. In fact, I seem to remember it being a rather ordinary dinner with one plate of weird food that I didn't touch. :) It was very interesting this time. Fortunately, I wasn't the only clueless goy there. I found out that I like gefilte fish. Who'd have guessed? I also found out it IS possible to have tasty kosher baked goods. Mmm...chocolate cake. And I also learned that Mount Tabor is probably the best kosher-for-Passover wine out there. Their cab sauv can stand up to the regular stuff, no problem. As for the rest of it, even the Efron's cave had a funny aftertaste to it that I couldn't stand. Anyway, most of the stuff was tasty, the lesson in history and culture was interesting, and the company was a blast.
Yesterday I took the day off to recover, but it also turns out that it was a holiday at the company where I work. Convenient! I had a nice walk with the boy, got some errands done, and cooked some YUMMY (including grilled chicken with satay seasoning, basmati rice with chopped bell peppers, and an Asian slaw made with Napa cabbage, carrots, rice wine vinegar, Splenda, tamari sauce, and a teensy bit of sesame oil).
After dinner last night, I picked up a knitting project I was working on about a year ago which I had fucked up badly. I managed to get it unraveled to a point where I could pick it all up again and put it back on the needles. Success! Now to get going again so I can have a cute hand-knit tank top this summer!
Today is being spent on cleaning, possible gardening, and who knows what else. I like three-day weekends. :)
