So...again, I am at MIT. A different department this time: the Institute for Soldier Nanotechnologies. It's pretty interesting stuff that they do here. They research nanotechnology for a host of military applications, like designing better body armour and stuff. The admin is going on vacation next week, and he stayed here most of the day to train me and show me around, but he's now gone. I don't have a heck of a lot to do, really. I answer the phone, do stuff people ask me (file, print, etc.), e-mail people when they get packages, make the coffee in the morning...seems pretty easy. The people are very nice and friendly, even the bigwigs, and that always makes a job nice. One of the bigwigs is "particular" and "detail-obsessed" in the way my old boss was, but seems MUCH nicer about it.
Ooh, big news! In a couple of weeks, I'm going to perform with a live band for the first time! I'm doing the veil section of a multi-person routine at the Athenian Corner in Lowell.
nepenthe01 is doing drum solo in a different routine that night. :) Exciting, but scary. Oy. At least I have teh shiny to wear for it.
I had Chinese for lunch because that's where everyone else was going. Now I'm really full. Oh well, I know I'll be eating dinner really late tonight anyway, and my lunch was fairly early, so that might be a good thing.
I went to Goffee last night after class. It's always a blast to see people there. You guys are a bunch of loonies, but that's why I love you.
Tomorrow's the recital! I checked the program, and am happy to see that I won't have any issues with getting changed in time. I think. I really wish my nails were in better shape, but other than that, I think everything's ready to go. I just need to iron stuff, polish my zills, and get to BU for 11:30 tomorrow. Yes, the recital begins at one. I will be dressing, doing makeup, and rehearsing for an hour and a half before then. :) I love recital day. I like the atmosphere in the dressing room. It's a total estrogen-fest, with all us chicks in there oohing and aahing over each other's outfits and makeup, swapping stuff, pinning each other's costumes, chatting, running around like chickens with our heads cut off...yeah, it's fun.
IOk, better start poking around and seeing if I can find some work to do!
