Oh man, I am exhausted as heck, but I feel like I had a whole vacation in there. Friday started with me leaving work EARLY (I like you, MIT). I went to the Garment District, and picked up three blouses, two skirts, and a cute pair of open-toed beige shoes, all for $55. I think that even if (when) I do get a permanent job that pays well, I'm going to keep shopping there. I love it. It does take some real searching to find what you want there since nothing is separated by size, but it's worth it. They play good music (I was shopping to the Pogues!) and the building is kinda cool, so the shopping is pleasant.

Saturday, the boy and I went to J's going away/birthday party. [livejournal.com profile] cryptifur was there, and I also got to meet his mom and stepfather, who I absolutely adored. What sweet people. I got to hang out with some friends in the evening too, and got good reviews of my off-the-top-of my head

I sauteed the chopped mushroom stems with some shallots in olive oil, added basil and rosemary, then dumped in panko breadcrumbs and white wine (quite a bit of it). I stirred in a lot of feta and then cooked some prosciutto separately and added that. If you don't have to keep some aside as vegetarian as I did, you can just cook the prosciutto with the mushrooms and shallots. I used baby portobellos.

Sunday morning [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart and I met up with a large group of people for dim sum at Emperor's Garden in Chinatown. Man, being able to go out and feed (ok, STUFF) 10 people for about 10 bucks a piece is awesome. I didn't have to eat again until about 8pm, and that was after a large-scale cleaning frenzy! I got to have my favourite spicy salty deep-fried baby squidlets. Mmmm. Baby F entertained everyone with his overwhelming cuteness and flirtaciousness, and a good time was had by all. Well, all except poor [livejournal.com profile] quem98, who wasn't feeling all that hot.

Yesterday, [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart and I got up super-early (for a holiday). He got the smoker going while I put the finishing touches on the apartment. He took care of the ribs, I made a couple cornbreads and some collard greens, and other people brought over other stuff as they came. There was much good food, booze, and company. There were even s'mores. YUM.

Needless to say, we were both pretty beat when we got to bed last night. Nonetheless, I woke up at about 3am, thirsty as hell (a not uncommon occurance when I've had a lot to drink). I gulped some water, but could NOT get back to sleep afterwards. I know I was awake until at least 4:30, but I think I was awake at least half the time between 4:30 and 6:30 when my alarm went off as well. Oy. Tonight I am doing laundry and crashing early, so that I can have energy to go out for salsa lessons with [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart tomorrow! I need to learn that. Really I do. And I'm very much looking forward to the opportunity to dance with my boy! :)
