I plugged my phone in last night to charge it, but was doing some weird stuff. Hard to describe. Anyway, I left it plugged in overnight, but when I woke up, it hadn't taken a charge. Grr. I plugged it in again at work today, but it was still not charging. I ended up wiping off the little metal connction points on the phone that touch other points on the charger, and tried again. Bingo! I LIKE it when things are easy to fix like that. :)

Pagans' Night Out tonight! Yay! I haven't been in what feels like ages. I might end up being bad and getting nachos for dinner because 1) it's the most filling appetizer, and $3.50 appetizers during happy hour = cheap dinner for Laura, and 2) Phoenix Landing makes excellent nachos. Yum. Ah heck, I've been good today otherwise, and I'll be doing a lot of healthy cooking for myself while the boy is out of town.

Speaking of healthy food, does anyone know of a place that has decent but cheap seafood (like, plain raw seafood, not cooked or prepared)? Fresh and frozen are both ok. McKinnon's sometimes has some, but not much. T-accessible is a must, and it can't be too far from where I live (since summer weather will thaw or warm the stuff on a long ride home.) Basically, I would LOVE to find a place that is for seafood what McKinnon's is for meat.

Tomorrow after work, I am definitely going to hit Garment District again. What I REALLY need are shoes. I tried DSW's clearance section yesterday, as well as Payless and Marshall's downtown, but of those three places, only DSW had black pump-like shoes in my size, and none of them actually fit me well. Grr. I wish the surfaces in this town weren't so hard on my shoes. I can't tell you how many times I've felt my heel slip into a big crack between bricks or cobblestones or something, and lost a heel cap because of it. It happens to at least one if not both shoes in each pair of slender-heeled shoes I buy. And it's not like these are stilettos, either. They just aren't hugely chunky. I also need to buy a pair of sneakers to wear outside, or maybe (at least for the summer) I'll start wearing my Tevas whenever I need to walk around outside. *sigh*

This may not be the most ideal location, but it's where I like to go for fresh seafood.

Hmm. Looks interesting. Are the prices low?

I honestly don't recall how their prices generally compare, but I think they buy from the boat, so it's one middle man removed from the process. I know lots of restaurants shop there.

The only fish market I know of specifically is the Court House Fish Market, on Cambridge Street in east Cambridge. It's a shortish walk (like 6-7 blocks) from Lechmere station, and the 69 bus runs along Cambridge Street, so the transportation isn't ideal from the Davis area. You can get the 87 or 88 bus to Lechmere and walk it easily enough, but their schedule might not be reliable enough to transport raw fish in the summer.

Porter exchange?

I'm not sure what the prices are, but have you looked at the Japanese grocer in the Porter Exchange? They may or may not be cheap, but they've got a lot of seafood.

They do have a lot of seafood, and that's where I'd go if I were to make sushi, but they have high prices.

I miss living near a Super 88!

Shoes and Seafood. Those 2 are really hard to shop for.

I am a walker, but I like to look stylish and professional on my feet. Pretty hard. For a while, I had good walking/working shoes, but I was stooopid and didn't get 2 pairs of each of those wonderful summer sandals. This summer, I find myself without good shoes for walking, summer weather and working :(

If you have any luck in finding something cute let me know. I kept visiting Zappos.com looking for my old shoes and no luck.
