Le week-end
Jul. 9th, 2006 04:13 pmIt's certainly been an interesting weekend.
Friday night,
pierceheart and I had a fairly low-key evening. We ate dinner at Kaya, where I was a little disappointed to find that other than sushi, the menu was a lot more Korean than Japanese. I found a nice seafood noodle dish, though. We rented Mirrormask afterwards, and watched that curled up on the futon.
Saturday morning we brunched at Diesel, since I was out of coffee creamer. We then went over to
pierceheart's place and did some cleaning there. Then, we hit the grocery store and came back to my place for a while. Dinner that night was an extravaganza hosted by
vervain13 and
ravenstorm27: cocktails, lambics, gazpacho, lamb...oh boy. We took a cab back to
pierceheart's place because there was NO WAY he was going to drive after all the booze the gentlemen gave us. :)
This morning we were lazy. Lazy, lazy, lazy. It was nice. After breakfast, which was at lunchtime, we came back to my place. I cooked up a bunch of chicken, rice, and broccoli meals for the coming week's lunches, and got a steak marinating. We're going to make that into fajitas for dinner tonight. YUM! I've been craving Mexican food with a vengeance.
Before very long--maybe as soon as I finish my glass of Crystal Light--I am going to make myself a cocktail. I read about this cocktail yesterday in a free paper. It's one that's made at Cuchi-Cuchi, and it's called Salome's Potion. The ingredients include muddled blackberries and fresh basil, and Hendrick's gin. Mmmmmmm. Can't wait. I'm glad I'm starting to explore cocktails a little more. I'm enjoying finding ones that don't taste like Kool-Aid mixed with vodka, and which have subtle and unusual ingredients. Huzzah for expanding horizons! :)
