Friday night's anniversary celebration was full of pros and cons.
Pro: [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart cooked me an amazingly delicious Armenian meal, and the cookbook he used is now sitting on my shelf. It's awesome!
Con: The terrible weather made me decide not even to bother finding out if Shakespeare on the Common was cancelled. I assumed it was, what with the thunder, lightning, and downpours.
Pro: We got to see The Lady in the Water instead, which was pretty good.
Con: During the movie, poor [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart was shivering uncontrollably. Turned out he'd come down with a high fever. He's not QUITE so bad symptom-wise now, but it may end up being strep. Which means I might get it, and just in time for Stones.

I made two breads this weekend. Both were beer breads made with barleywine. One was a quickbread and one was a yeasted bread. I didn't try the yeasted one, but it LOOKED phenomenal, and the quickbread was delicious. I will have to bake bread more often. Beer breads are especially tasty.

One of my interviews was moved to today, instead of tomorrow. I had a message on my work voice mail from 5:15 on Friday (after I'd left) telling me about this. I'm just glad it's the one for which I'm LEAST concerned with formality, since I'm not wearing a suit! I'll wear one for the interviews tomorrow, though, and bring comfy clothes to change into for the drive after work.

Tonight I pack for Stones. No, I didn't get any of that done over the weekend. But I should be able to swing it just fine. Gods, I hope I don't get sick. And I hope [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart gets better soon. At this time two days from now, we'll be on the road from Connecticut to Pennsylvania! I'm psyched. :) STONES! YAY!

Good luck with your interviews!

Tonight I pack for Stones. No, I didn't get any of that done over the weekend. But I should be able to swing it just fine.

I got most of my clothes packed, and the bulk of the rest of my stuff is organized in two central locations. I need to pack the car tonight, since I work at the store tomorrow night.

Gods, I hope I don't get sick. And I hope [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart gets better soon.

I hope you don't get sick either. Can you get some preventive drugs to take? Will your doc do that for you?

Doc? What doc? I have no health insurance! Best I can do is take vitamins, drink water, and sleep enough.

Ugh. Our health care system really needs some work.

Best I can do is take vitamins, drink water, and sleep enough.

You could also kiss using a dental dam, but where's the fun in that?

If you come to believe it might really be strep, do go to the doctor and have it testes, and if necessary, get antibiotics. Untreated strep can turn very, very, very nasty -- rheumatic fever, if I recall correctly.

As for prevention, I've had great luck with vitamin C, echinacea, and zinc. I avoided colds for an entire year by dutifully taking those things whenever it looked like I might possibly be coming down with something. I was actually pretty amazed at the success.

yes, strep can lead to scarlet fever, which can lead to arf.
I'm sure it's strep, but the docs are waiting on my lab results, call back tomorrow.

Meh.

*snicker*

Sorry, but that's an AWESOME typo! :)

I'm planning on picking up some of that Airborne stuff today for preventative purposes. [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart went to a VA hospital to get a strep culture, but won't find out the results until tomorrow. If it is strep, and I do catch it, I'm going to hit a clinic somewhere, probably MGH. But that would have to wait until I got back from Stones. Hopefully I WON'T catch it.

MMmmmmm... beer bread! I make a beer-cheese bread that my family begs for. We really should trade recipes!
