So, remember how I said that the woman who interviewed me was going to be checking my references while I was at Stones and would get back to me after that today?

Well, I just got an e-mail from her saying the following:

Hi Laura,

Hope you had a great vacation.

As long as you are still interested in the position, I am going to contact your references today. I am going to be out of the office Thursday through Monday so I will contact you on Tuesday or Wednesday with the next steps.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

AIEEEEEE! This is TORTURE! I want an answer! Now I have to wait another week. *bangs head against wall*

On the plus side, I'm apparently hanging out with witchyspyce and cloakedrose tomorrow night, which will be fun.

Yeah, it was hot as hell. I so hope they move it back to Labor Day weekend! We got into Connecticut at about 8:45. Damn, that was a long drive. Six hours. Ugh.

Sacrifices? Just a little skin, on my part. I went down during one of the stone pulls (my boots skidded on some gravel), and I was right near the stone. Fortunately, I jumped up fast enough that the crew didn't even have a chance to yell "stop", and I just got a scraped leg. Oh, and when someone's Coleman lantern blew up on Sunday, I got scratched up a bit while running through the bracken to get to the site of the accident. Oy vey.

Ok, in simpler language:

Laura pulling 1.5-ton rock (with other people). Laura right in front of moving rock. Laura fall down, go boom. Rock still moving forward. Laura jump up so as not to get hit by moving 1.5-ton rock, but get boo-boo in process. :P

I'll have to tell you all about what we do at Stones so you know what I'm talking about and why it's so cool!

i doubt it will make you feel any better, but for 'our' employer, what you're experiencing now is surprising swiftness. my current job - i applied in november, was interviewed in feb/march, and started at the end of april after giving two weeks notice from when i knew i had the job.

so they're moving way quick w/ you. i know, that doesn't really help.

Thanks, hon! I think part of the reason why they're moving at this speed is that the person who's in that position now is leaving in mid-August and they want someone in there not long after she leaves.

Doesn't that kind of thing drive you nuts?!? I found out today that the closing date for the position I applied for has been extended to the 18th (from the 11th). I now have longer to wait, too! ARRRRGGGHHHH!

Maybe it's all just as test to see how bad you want the job... Maybe you should go postal, that's a dead giveaway that you want the job bad (yes, pun intended, and no I'm not serious) I hope u got somewhat of a smile at least... I know I'M cracking up! LOL ok done...phew!

could be... or maybe with you gone this whole time, it's been so busy for her that she hasn't had time, so when you came in today, she said...thank the heavens, she's back, I'll call her references and get her started right away!
