Sometimes I wonder why I bother bringing an umbrella to work. Blah. My hair is a giant frizz-bomb today!

I'm slightly anxious about the job.

I'm pissed that I fucked up somewhere on my sock and will have to unravel quite a lot of work to fix it.

Ah well, this too shall pass. Bad hair is not the end of the world. I have no real reason to believe that I'm no longer being considered for the job. I SHOULD be able to get that unravelling done on my sock at lunch today, and if I do that instead of making a half-assed patch-up, it will end up looking a lot better.

Anyone want to hang out tomorrow evening?

Believe it or not, I do have frizzy hair on days like this. Yep, none of the benefits of curly/wavy hair but all the drawbacks. I use Aveda Self Control. It looks like a stick of deodorant but it is wax. Keeps out the extra moisture but washes right out. I bet there is a cheaper product at Sally's or a drugstore.

Universities work very very slow. I know it doesn't make it any easier to wait. But keep the flame of hope up. I have news I am waiting on today. Can not share yet...

One thing to remember about the people doing the hiring is that they are every bit as susceptible to busy-ness and lame-ness as everyone else in the world...and that's most likely what's going on.

I feel your pain regarding the sock...I've been making a glove for a friend, and I've pulled it out 4 times. Crazy.

Yeah, I know about the busy time and lameness. :) It's just frustrating.

Sorry about the glove! I messed up somewhere on the toe...probably dropped a couple stitches which are impossible to just neatly pick up in the middle of a short row tow. I'll go back to before I began the short rows and just do them over. They don't take long. I just wish I had a fifth needle...it would make it much easier. But this set of DPNs I found in my aunt's stuff only had 4.

opps, I posted to you about this under your "worry" entry. Daurdabla called me to see if I could find out anything about why MIT is taking so long. If you email me the details at bryonyk@gmail.com I'll ask people I know in admin and hopefully there will be a link. Though it's doubtful unless someone knows the person who's hiring you personally. As others have commented, not checking out your references is NOT an indication they're not interested: it could mean they're just dealing with whatever is blowing up in their faces. Also, THIS is when admin offices start to gear up for new semester.

(btw, I live with Lensman, who still works at MIT, where we met. Pierceheart's on his friends' list and vice-versa. Also mzdarkgirl, sunspiral, canongrrl, no doubt a few others. And we were taking a walk 'round the Fells this Sunday. Everybody sing "It's a small world after all. . . ." ) :-)

I just finished the Sock Twin last night, so now I have a finished pair! YAY! But, I think I did them a little too small. Boo! But I think I have enough yarn to make a very cute baby a pair. YAY!

ooooh! works for me. though i need a project. :) i think on that.

got ideas where i should look for lavender yarn, not more than two skeins, non-wool, non-sheddy, soft on skin, does not break bank, LOCAL? need it for the seat belt cozies.

All I can think of is Windsor Button. They have better prices than most places.

Their selection has drastically improved from when I first started going there at the beginning of 2004. The size of the yarn section has about doubled since then!
