This bodes so very well!

JOY!

HI Laura

Hope all is well with you today. Just letting you know where things stand from my end. Linda from CVS is on vacation until 8/21, but I talked with Jay and left voice mail for Joanne at Patni. I am hoping to connect with Joanne by tomorrow. Once I have talked to Joanne, I will be in touch with you to take it to the next step; offering you the job.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

EEEEEEEEE!

ETA: I know Joanne often gets too busy to answer her phone or check voicemail, so I called her cell phone to tell her about the message. She said she'd call right away, and told me she wished she could hire me there!

Yesss!

So do you want congratulations now, or would you rather wait until it's official?

Hehehe...you can wait until it's official, so you don't have to type it twice. :P

nyah nyah, told ya so, told ya so! ;-p Congrats, sounds like you had nothing but good recs and like she said, seems like a good fit. Not to mention the $3K more in salary. After taxes, you'll get maybe $500 a year. Don't spend it all in one place! (Just kidding!)

I was just reading your July post about "when I get a new job" and your plans for saving money. Here's a few things:

* MIT will direct deposit your pay for you. Find out which banks accept that, and some even give you free checking with direct deposit. I'm almost pretty sure Bank of America does, they're right there on Main Street, have tons of atms.
*Join the MIT Employees Federal Credit Union. They're great for when you need a loan. You can have money put into savings there directly from your paycheck. (Unhappily, savings only earlys about .5%: a direct deposit savings place like ING or immigrantsdirect offers nearly 4%.)
*MIT gives $150 towards health club membership/year.
*MIT paid for my master's degree. I'm not sure if they still do that, but if you ever want to, look into it. In short, read the fine print of the benefits package. And take advantage of the free to employees computer skills upgrading classes going on every month.

Yeah, I totally plan to take full advantage of the benefits. I have direct deposit now through my temp agency, and plan to do the same with MIT. I AM thinking about switching banks and starting up a savings account. I have BoA now, and am not all that thrilled with them, but I may be able to get a better account type with them. I'll have to have a chat with actual bank employees about that or something. As for a Master's, I already have one of those, but taking an occasional course when I have time might be fun. Hell, maybe I'll brush up on my French, which used to be excellent but is now rusty.

Thank you! :)

Now I can relax a little on this front! I already told her I accepted the offer a few minutes ago.
