This, dear boys and girls, was a truly excellent weekend.
Friday night, I got some good couple-time in with
pierceheart. We went out for sushi at Bluefin, and it was nicer than the last time I was there. After that, we picked up some stuff for the party and went home. I spent some time rummaging through my knitting stash, cataloguing my knitting needles and printing patterns to bring with me to the Knitters' Breakfast the next morning. We managed to get to bed at a reasonable hour.
Saturday morning, I awoke long before the ass crack of dawn. At 5am, I was out of bed, and at 5:50, I was out the door. It was actually kinda cool walking alone in the dark to the T stop, seeing the morning from that side without having stayed up all the previous night. By the time I met
dee_cee at Forest Hills, it was light out. We hit a Starbucks (nonfat pumpkin latte, no whipped cream), and had a noneventful ride to Framingham, filled with knitting shop talk and some gossip. Naturally.
The breakfast was a blast, at least for people who are really into knitting. Since those are the only people who attended, well, that was fine. We got tons of freebie patterns and stuff, and a woman talked to us about trends in yarn and patterns, passing around pretty knit stuff for us to ogle and grope. Then they turned us loose on the store, and the shopping began. I picked up stuff for a sweater and a purse. When we left, the car wouldn't start...until
dee_cee called AAA. Then it started. Then she had to call back to cancel. We got home without other issues.
Once home I started working on
pierceheart's cake: carrot cake with cream cheese frosting, from scratch. I was a little worried because the cake bottoms burnt a bit, but I managed to rescue them with some nifty knifework. Fab!
pieceheart came home from the LSAT, seeming a bit happier with his results than he'd been last time. Yay! We went to his place, and started preparing for the party.
Most of the people we were expecting showed up, with a couple of exceptions. Everyone seemed to be having a good time. Much beer was drunk. Much PUMPKIN-flavoured beer, in my case. I love me some pumpkin ale. Hell, I love pumpkin EVERYTHING.
We had planned to hit King Richard's Faire on Sunday, but the rain was too much of a deterrent. We went to see The Illusionist instead, then hit Hanscom for tee-shirts for the boy, and got stuff for dinner at the commissary there. I made veggie curry over basmati rice. It was good. I worked on my cardigan after dinner, and am pleased with how it's going.
This morning,
pierceheart started work. He didn't need to be in until 9 today, so we took the T in together. That was nice. :) Now I have to go wrangle with the WSJ website, and see if I can find this section that doesn't seem to exist. Grr.
