...and naming five positive things in my life, since I've been in kind of a low mood lately and need a boost.
1. Even when dance is difficult for me and I'm worried about how I'm doing, the music is SO GORGEOUS. Just listening to a violin taxim thrills me. I don't think I would ever have found such a love of Middle Eastern music had it not been for dance.
2. I may not do it much anymore, but you know what? I can still write. I actually do have more of a way with words than just a general understanding of how to get a point across. I can make it sound good.
3. I got ready a lot faster than usual today. Even had time to make myself coffee and a good breakfast! That's a good way to start the day.
4. I did something well in dance last night. Can't remember what it was, but the teacher saw fit to compliment me and one other girl on it, and this was in the class with the more advanced students. That always feels good, to be singled out for doing something well in a class where most of the people do EVERYTHING better than you because they've been at it much longer.
5. I'm a damn good cook. Ok, so there are some kinds of dishes I've never made that other people do really well, and I feel a little lacking in mbut in general, I can COOK, whether I'm using a recipe or making something up off the top of my head. It's just natural for me. The filet mignon in shallots and wine with sweet and regular oven fries that I made the other night was awesome.
Now, looking at all these things, I note that I am primarily trying to remind myself of all the nifty things I can do and the good things I've accomplished. Hmm. Rely on a good opinion of yourself rather than external stuff. Ok. Good thinking.
