Five positives:

1. Dinner last night: Cornish game hen with hoisin, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and hot sauce

2. Mooovies with [livejournal.com profile] cloakedrose tonight!

3. Some real time with [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart this week, even if we spent much of it exhausted

4. Seeing old friends again who've been out of the area for a long time

5. A warm and cozy winter coat on a cold morning. Mmm, downy.

Friday Five:

1) What was the first CD/Record/Album/Artist you ever bought and what format was it in? (Vinyl/Cassette/CD/MP3 Download)?

I bought a cassette of The Indigo Girls...can't remember which one it was.

2) How do you usually listen to music? (iPod/Walkman/Stereo/Radio)

Sadly, these days, it's mostly on [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart's car stereo. I need to get better software for ripping songs from my iPod to my computer so I can keep what I want from there, delete the rest, and add my OWN stuff to it.

3) What is your favorite genre of music and why?

Don't really have one these days. I love good industrial, punk, folk, and avant-rock all at different times.

4) What is your opinion on music video shows and music televion?

Don't watch them. There's no more M in MTV.

5) Do you usually agree with who the winners of the Grammy Awards are?

I generally hate pop music, so I don't care who the winners of the Grammy Awards are.

Well, there's Anapod for the iPod--it can DL music from your MP3 player to your computer. I don't know that it's a management system like iTunes, but I believe it has a similar feature. You do have to pay for the full thing, but you can try it for free in a limited capacity first.

That reminds me, I still have to do that with mine, because I want to have stuff backed up...

What kind of belly dance music do you like, generally? I've been trying to expand my range, but I often fall back on good Egyptian drummers like Hossam Ramzy. Turku has a great Gypsy feel to it, though, and I find it very danceable, too. Is there a particular rhythm or style you go for?

I'm thinking about CopyPod, which [livejournal.com profile] nepenthe recommended to me. It downloads stuff from the pod straight into your iTunes, I think. It's like $25. Worth it. The software I have now is kind of a pain.

For belly dance, I'm a huge John Bilezikjian fan. I love good violin taxims too, though I'm not yet all that fabulous at dancing to them. I have really started to adore Georges Lammam, and want to buy one or more of his albums. I tend to like a lot of the caberet classics: Azziza, Shisheler, Bir Demet Yasamen, etc. I'm dying to get some good Armenain stuff, too. Must make a trip to Acme one of these days.

Cornish game hen with hoisin, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and hot sauce

What's that like? I've heard of Cornish game hen quite often, but I've never tried it.

Well, it's like an eensy weensy chicken. :) Honestly, I think that with the ones you get in the supermarket, the taste is basically the same. They take a lot less time to cook, though, and one can feed two people nicely. I like cooking them at a high heat for a crispy skin. They stay nice and juicy.

Sounds yummy.

However, that whole 2 person thing worries me. My roommate and myself can destroy a 4lb fryer.

Ah, so you'd want one apiece then. :)

That's kinda like cooking Tweety Bird. Does it have humongous feet, too?

I've never seen it with the feet on! It's a bit bigger than Tweety, though.
