And it is, too. The sun is shining out there, and the temperature is actually seasonably brisk. Good day for gift shopping. Now, if only I knew what I was shopping for! I have some ideas for [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart, but not for anyone else. My father, well, I could get him cookbooks, music, etc., and he'd be happy, so a Borders will likely turn up something good for him. Or I might get him a book on beer or a beer-of-the-day calendar or something, and some beers. Or a book on wine. My mom's hard. She gets herself anything she wants, usually, so there's not much out there that she wants and doesn't have. Plus, she doesn't have a lot of real interests. She likes some TV shows, she's on a low-carb diet, and she likes clothes. But our bodies are probably too different for me to be able to get clothes for her, and there's not a heck of a lot I can do with the other two things. My sister is also not really a person with interests. I might end up getting her some stuff from Lush, because there isn't one of those around where she lives, and she might like some of their stuff (the sweeter-smelling stuff). But she can also be really picky about smells, so...I dunno. Hell, she's picky about everything. Maybe pajamas, or something. *shrugs*

And I have no clue at ALL what to get for [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart's parents. One of these days I'll have to knit his mom a pretty wrap or something, but I just don't have time this year.

And what to get for [livejournal.com profile] dahveed76? Hmm. No clue, yet.

At least I was up early today. I didn't really fall asleep again after the boy left for drill, since my room was already getting light (my window faces eastish). I've had breakfast and am sipping away at my coffee. Then I'll hop in the shower, dress, and get out there. I may start downtown and work my way back to Harvard Square or something. We'll see. But first I should call my mom and see what she has to say about presents for the rest of the family.

Here's some ideas/suggestions:
If your mother has a favorite show, perhaps you can get her the first collected season of it on DVD. That or get her a gift card for a favorite clothing store and include an offer to do a mother/daughter shopping trip. (Add in something like a pair of gloves or some toasty slippers, in case she has even a small prejudice against gift cards.)

For your sister: Bath & Body Works has an online store, if she likes any of their products. A gift card from them (which this year, you can get a cute and very soft teddy bear to go with it for cheap) might be the thing.

For [livejournal.com profile] pierceheart's parents, it could be something personal. For example, if he's got any old pictures of himself as a boy or a baby, take one and get it retouched. Put it in a nice double frame, where the other picture is his most recent (maybe a holiday photo?)... they'll probably love it. :)

>trying to be good, really<
well if your mom is on a low carb diet, have you considered getting her sugar free, lowish carb desserts?
or spices... they have no carbs, so spice blends are good.

and is she on the low fat low carb kind of diet? or the fat? no problem kind? because it makes a difference.....

See, my mom got very lucky when she married my dad: he's an amazing cook. He has more spices than he knows what to do with, and gets them from the best places. :) The desserts aren't really something she's that seriously into. I think what I'm going to do is find some spiffy earrings for her.
