Four deaths plus two martinis plus one viewing of The Return of the King equals a big fuckin' tear jerker. Sheesh. But it's not in a bad way.

That's exactly what Tolkien intended! Eucatastrope is a good thing.

::hugs::: for you and good thoughts for all those you love who have lost someone.

Thanks. :) Yeah, the part that's always gotten me is the farewell at the Grey Havens, especially when in the book you have all the leadup with Frodo's weariness and pain, and then the description of Elvenhome beyond the sea, like the Summerland.

damn it. i tear up just THINKING about it. and elijah wood NAILS that pained look that says more than i could ever put into words, of leaving, and being glad to go, but sad to go, of knowing your friends will be fine, but that the past is gone forever..... GAH!!!

i adore tolkien.

hugs and smooches darling.

Oh, man, that's some bad-ass catharsis. Four deaths, two martinis, and Frodo's sad eyes at the end?

A couple of chilled chamomile tea bags should take down the swelling in the eyes.
